DISAPPOINTING LOSS AS
REFEREE STOPS FIGHT
WITH 2 SECONDS LEFT IN 4TH
By all accounts, Joey Abell was ahead on the scorecards heading into the fourth round. He kept the shorter veteran at a distance with his superior reach and jab. Near the end of the fourth round Joey cornered Greeley, heaved a couple blocked punches, and while backing up was caught flush on the jaw which sent the big Minnesotan wobbling to the ropes and down to a knee. After a ‘quick’ standing eight count, Greeley launched a bull rush with a flurry of punches at the shaken Abell capped by a vicious right to the side of Joey’s head. The arms dropped to his sides, the referee jumped in, and with 2 seconds remaining in the round, it was over. This was a very disappointing loss for Joey but he knows all to well, in the heavy weight division, one punch can change everything. Look for Minnesota Ice to rebound with a vengeance.
