He’s not an 18 Wheeler anymore and his string of seven straight loss’s would indicate he is running on retreads, but look a little further and you will see Maurice Wheeler has been locking horns with some decent fighters over the last few months. Over his last 7 fights, his opponents have a combined record of 151-10, and included the likes of David Tua, Alonzo Butler, Jason Estrada and Tony Thompson. Minnesota Ice will have to be on the top of his game to put this tough, seasoned southpaw to the mat. Joey will be fighting at one of his favorite locations, The Legendary Blue Horizon (click link for ticket information) where he has become a fan favorite. ABELL-WHEELER GO TOE TO TOE AT PRESS CONFERENCE
Wednesdays press conference at The Legendary Blue Horizon not only proved to be informative but a bit combative, as Wheeler taunted Abell during and after the meeting. Abell's calm demeanor defused the situation but believe me, Abell will remember this when the bell rings tonight. During the press conference, Don Elbaum compared Joey's punching power to that of Sonny Liston and one of the hardest hitting heavyweights in the division.
The Swedish Commissioner also made an appearance at the conference as he tours the United States promoting the return of boxing to the Scandinavian country. He praised Joey's contributions to this resurgence and his three trips to Sweden. See the entire press conference at www.gofightlive.tv where you can also sign up to see the fight live.
